Research Interests
Invasive species
I have worked on recording the distribution and effects of invasive species within the USA (southern California and Hawai'i) as well as looked at changes invasive California kingsnakes have undergone during their initial irruption in the canary islands.
Native species
I have worked on describing new species as well as understanding the distribution and life history characteristics of native and endemic species. I think it is of vital importance in order to help conserve, understand, and protect extant species during the age of the Anthropocene.
Parasites
I have also worked on collecting and surveying both invasive and native taxa in Malaysia, Hawai'i, and California to look for hidden parasite diversity.
Elasmobranchs
I have been interested in sharks for much of my life, but only recently have I been able to pursure research on them. My main research questions are how have Elasmobranchs dealt with extinction, speciation, and climate change. Working with Dr. Sallan and Dr. Santos, I have analyzed the traits of living Elasmobranchs to see how specifc traits can be correlated with species conservation status.
